Immigrate to Canada from Saudi Arabia — 2026 Guide

This guide is for expats living and working in Saudi Arabia — nurses in Riyadh hospitals, petroleum engineers at ARAMCO, IT professionals in Jeddah, and other skilled workers. Your Saudi work experience counts fully for Canada PR. VMC's licensed RCICs help Saudi-based expats build their Canadian immigration strategy.

WHY CANADA FOR SAUDI EXPATS

Why Saudi Arabia Expats Choose Canada

Permanent Residency vs Iqama

Saudi Iqama is tied to your employer — if you lose your job or your employer cancels your visa, you must leave. Canadian PR is permanent and employer-independent. VMC helps Saudi expats secure the long-term security their Iqama cannot provide.

Oil/Gas → Alberta Connection

Saudi petroleum engineers and energy sector professionals have highly valued skills in Alberta's oil sands industry. Many ARAMCO engineers transition directly to Canadian energy companies. Alberta actively recruits energy sector professionals.

Healthcare Demand

Canada's severe nursing and physician shortage means Saudi-experienced healthcare workers are in high demand. Internationally educated nurses from Saudi hospitals are specifically targeted by Atlantic provinces under AIP.

Muslim Community

Mississauga, Calgary, and Edmonton have large Muslim communities with mosques, halal food, and Islamic schools. Saudi-based Muslim families — typically Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, or Egyptian nationality — find communities that reflect their values.

Family Security

Canadian citizenship provides your children with security no Gulf residency visa can match. Public healthcare, free K-12 education, and affordable universities are major draws for Saudi-based families with children.

Saudi Savings Advantage

Saudi Arabia has no personal income tax. Many expats working in Saudi Arabia have built significant savings that comfortably meet IRCC's settlement funds requirements for Canadian PR.

THE PROCESS

Saudi Arabia to Canadian PR — Step by Step

1

IELTS in Saudi Arabia

IELTS test centres operate in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. Book IELTS General Training. Target CLB 9 (7.0 per band). Most English-speaking professionals in Saudi Arabia achieve this with minimal preparation.

2

Home Country ECA (WES)

Get WES ECA for your degree from your home country (India, Philippines, Pakistan, Egypt, etc.). Send transcripts directly from your university to WES. Allow 60–90 business days.

3

Saudi Good Conduct Certificate

Obtain the Certificate of Good Conduct from Saudi Ministry of Interior (through Absher portal for residents). Required for Canadian PR applications. VMC advises on the Saudi clearance process.

4

VMC Assessment from Saudi Arabia

VMC conducts video consultations. VMC calculates your CRS, reviews your Saudi employment records, and recommends FSW, AIP, or Alberta AINP depending on your occupation and goals.

5

Create Express Entry Profile

VMC creates your profile with accurate Saudi employment details. ARAMCO and major Saudi employers are well-known — but all employment must be documented with experience letters.

6

Land in Canada and Activate PR

After approval, make a landing trip to activate Canadian PR status. Most Saudi-based applicants plan their relocation around this trip. VMC advises on landing logistics.
