How long does an LMIA take?▼
Processing times vary by stream. Global Talent Stream targets 2 weeks. Standard high-wage and low-wage streams typically take 2-4 months. Agricultural streams vary seasonally. We provide current ESDC estimates at consultation.
What is the Global Talent Stream?▼
GTS is a fast-track LMIA stream for tech and innovation roles. Category A covers in-demand occupations; Category B covers unique and specialized talent. Processing target is approximately 2 weeks.
What are my compliance obligations as an employer?▼
You must pay the wages offered, provide the working conditions stated in the LMIA, and maintain records for 6 years. ESDC can inspect at any time. Non-compliance can result in bans and fines. We keeps you audit-ready.
Can We handle work permits after a positive LMIA?▼
Yes - after a positive LMIA, We prepare the worker's work permit application to minimize delays between LMIA approval and their start date.
What is the difference between high-wage and low-wage LMIA?▼
High-wage LMIA applies when the wage meets or exceeds the provincial median. Low-wage LMIA applies below that threshold and has additional requirements including a transition plan.
How much does an LMIA cost?▼
ESDC charges $1,000 per position for most LMIA streams (agricultural streams are exempt). We's professional fees are separate and quoted at consultation.
