- ✓ SOWP available after AOR (inland)
- ✓ Remote interviews from Jan 16, 2026
My children

- ✓ Undeclared family member risks

Sponsor Your Spouse or Partner
The most common family class application in Canada. Strategy - inland vs outland - has a major impact on timeline, travel, and work authorization.
Spousal / Common-Law Sponsorship
Sponsor your legally married spouse or common-law partner (12+ months cohabitation) for Canadian PR. We manages the complete application - forms, relationship evidence, and IRCC follow-up.
Outland ~15 mo · Inland ~21 moConjugal Partner Sponsorship
For couples in a committed 1+ year relationship who cannot cohabit or marry due to exceptional circumstances - immigration barriers, legal restrictions, or other genuine obstacles.
Exceptional circumstancesOutland Sponsorship
Your partner applies from outside Canada (or while visiting). Faster - ~15 months March 2026. Preserves full appeal rights. Travel flexibility. Recommended strategy for most couples.
Recommended · ~15 monthsInland Sponsorship
Your partner is already in Canada and applies from inside. ~21 months. SOWP available after AOR. Travel outside Canada risks application abandonment - plan carefully.
In Canada · ~21 monthsSpousal Open Work Permit (SOWP)
Inland applicants can apply for an open work permit after Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR). Outland applicants may also qualify in certain cases. We applies for SOWP at the right time.
After AORRemote interviews - from January 16, 2026
Family class applicants in Canada may now be interviewed remotely, reducing the need to attend an overseas visa office. We prepare clients thoroughly for all interview formats.
Inland or Outland - Which is Right for You?
The decision affects timeline by 6+ months, travel rights, and appeal options if refused. We compares both paths against your specific situation before you file.
Sponsoring Dependent Children and Other Relatives
Children are often included in the same application as the sponsored spouse. Sponsoring children separately requires careful attention to age rules.
Dependent children
Children under 22, unmarried, and not in a common-law relationship. Or 22+ if financially dependent due to a physical or mental condition. Age lock-in at time of application - timing matters.
Under 22 · Age lock-inAdopted children
Adoption overseas requires satisfying both Canadian and the child's country requirements. We advises on the intersection of adoption law and immigration requirements.
Dual-country requirementsUndeclared family members
Failing to declare a family member at the time of your own immigration can permanently bar that person from being sponsored later. We review your immigration history before filing.
Critical - review historyOrphaned relatives
Orphaned siblings, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren under 18 who are unmarried may qualify in limited exceptional circumstances. Requires careful legal assessment.
Exceptional onlyBringing Parents and Grandparents to Canada
The Parents and Grandparents Program is closed to new applications in 2026. The Super Visa is the recommended path for extended family visits.
Parents & Grandparents Program (PGP)
PGP is not accepting new applications in 2026. Past invitees whose applications are already in process continue to be handled. We monitor PGP intake announcements for future years.
Closed 2026 - monitor for reopeningSuper Visa for Parents & Grandparents
Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and PRs can visit for up to 5 years per entry, valid for 10 years. Requires $100K+ health insurance and proof of sponsor income (LICO).
Up to 5 years per stayHumanitarian & compassionate (H&C)
When you don't qualify under standard family class rules, an H&C application asks IRCC to grant permanent residence for compelling reasons - hardship, ties to Canada, or best interests of a child. Separate from sponsorship; evidence-heavy and discretionary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Canadian family sponsorship - updated for 2026
- Spousal sponsorship - also called family class sponsorship - allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner to become a permanent resident of Canada. It is one of the three pillars of Canada's immigration system alongside economic immigration and refugee protection. The process has two stages: Stage 1 assesses whether the sponsor is eligible to sponsor. Stage 2 assesses whether the sponsored person is admissible and the relationship is genuine. Both stages are processed simultaneously in most cases. As of March 2026, IRCC's official processing times are 15 months for Outland (overseas) applications and 21 months for Inland (in-Canada) applications. We manages the complete process for both sponsors and sponsored partners.
- As a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you can sponsor: your spouse (legally married), your common-law partner (cohabiting in a conjugal relationship for at least 12 consecutive months), your conjugal partner (in a committed relationship for at least 1 year but unable to cohabit due to exceptional circumstances such as immigration barriers or legal restrictions), and your dependent children (under 22, unmarried, and not in a common-law relationship - or over 22 but financially dependent due to a physical or mental condition). You can also include the sponsored person's dependent children in the same application. Beyond spouses and children, you can sponsor parents and grandparents - but the Parents and Grandparents Program is not accepting new applications in 2026. Orphaned siblings, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren may be sponsored in exceptional circumstances. We advises on which family members qualify under current rules.
- A spouse is someone you are legally married to - the marriage must be legally valid in both the country where it took place and in Canada. A common-law partner is someone you have lived with in a conjugal relationship for at least 12 consecutive months - you must have lived together continuously, not just visited each other. A conjugal partner is someone you have been in a committed relationship with for at least 1 year but cannot live together or marry due to exceptional circumstances - such as immigration barriers (a refused visa), religious or cultural restrictions, or legal reasons. Conjugal partner applications face the highest scrutiny as IRCC wants to see genuine exceptional circumstances preventing cohabitation or marriage. We advises on which category applies to your specific relationship and how to document it correctly.
- The government fees for spousal sponsorship are: $150 sponsorship application fee (paid by the sponsor), $570 principal applicant processing fee, $230 Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF - payable on approval, can be paid upfront), and $85 biometrics fee per person. If dependent children are included, additional fees apply per child. Total government fees for a couple with no children are approximately $1,035 upfront plus $230 RPRF on approval. Medical exam costs approximately $200 to $400 per person depending on the clinic and country. Police certificate fees vary by country. Professional representation fees are separate. We provide a complete itemized fee breakdown before you commit to anything.
