Book consultation →Vietnam's French colonial heritage means some Vietnamese applicants have French language skills. Proven French proficiency (TEF/TCF) adds 25–50 bonus CRS points in Express Entry — a significant edge in competitive draw pools.
Canada's tech sector in Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary actively recruits Vietnamese software developers, data engineers, and IT managers. Vietnam's strong engineering universities produce candidates competitive in Canada's job market.
Canada has one of the largest Vietnamese communities outside Vietnam, established since the 1970s. Vancouver's Richmond, Toronto's west end, and Montreal's Côte-des-Neiges have thriving Vietnamese communities with businesses, temples, and cultural events.
Vietnamese applicants with French can access Montreal — a vibrant, multicultural city with lower cost of living than Toronto or Vancouver and strong demand for bilingual workers. Quebec immigration has its own pathway (QSWP) for French speakers.
Canada's Express Entry CRS is fully transparent — Vietnamese applicants can calculate their score, identify what to improve (language, education, job offer), and plan strategically. No lottery, no agent bribes, no waiting lists.
Once PR is obtained, Vietnamese Canadians can sponsor spouses, children, and parents. The large existing Vietnamese diaspora in Canada means many applicants already have family here to support the initial settlement.
For Vietnamese professionals applying from Vietnam. 1 year of skilled work experience, CLB 7 IELTS, WES ECA for Vietnamese degree. IT professionals (NOC 21232, 21211), engineers (21311), managers (10011), and accountants (11100) are well-positioned. Category-based draws for STEM and healthcare occupations are particularly relevant.
For Vietnamese applicants with French language skills (NCLC 7+). Quebec has its own immigration selection system. A Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) is obtained first through the MIFI points grid, then a federal PR application follows. Montreal offers excellent opportunities for bilingual Vietnamese professionals.
An increasingly popular route for younger Vietnamese applicants. Study at a Canadian university → PGWP → 12 months skilled work → Express Entry CEC. This pathway also allows Vietnamese students to gain Canadian language fluency and work experience, boosting their long-term CRS score and integration prospects.
With a Canadian job offer, Vietnamese workers can access PNP employer-driven streams in BC (Tech Pilot), Ontario (Employer Job Offer), and Alberta (AAIP). A PNP nomination adds 600 CRS points — enough to guarantee an ITA regardless of base score.
Vietnam's French colonial history means a portion of Vietnamese professionals have French language ability. If you do, it can meaningfully change your immigration strategy.
French tested via TEF Canada or TCF Canada. English via IELTS or CELPIP.

Book IELTS General Training (target 7.0 per band / CLB 9). If you have French background, also book TEF Canada or TCF Canada. Both sets of scores are valid for 2 years. Achieving CLB 9 English + NCLC 7 French adds +50 CRS points.
Obtain a WES (or equivalent) Educational Credential Assessment for your Vietnamese university degree. Transcripts from HUST, VNU, HCMUT, or other institutions must be sent directly to WES. Allow 60–90 business days.
A police clearance from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (through the relevant provincial police department) is required for PR. Allow 2–4 weeks. VMC advises on exact procedures.
VMC calculates your CRS score, advises on NOC code for your occupation, checks French bonus eligibility, and maps the optimal pathway — Express Entry FSW, PNP, or Quebec QSWP.
