Engineers, IT professionals, finance workers, accountants, and healthcare professionals with TEER 0–3 occupations and IELTS CLB 7+ are eligible. University of Moratuwa CS degrees, University of Colombo commerce degrees, and other Sri Lankan qualifications are consistently assessed positively by WES.

Common Challenges for Sri Lankan Applicants
WES Assessment Delays
WES can take 7–10 weeks during peak periods. VMC advises clients to start their ECA early — ideally before booking IELTS — so the assessment is ready when building the Express Entry profile.
IELTS Band Imbalance
Many Sri Lankan applicants score well in Reading and Listening but score lower in Speaking or Writing. FSW requires CLB 7 in ALL four bands. One low band can disqualify an otherwise strong profile. VMC recommends targeted preparation for weak bands.
Sri Lanka Police Clearance
Issued by the Department of Immigration and Emigration, Sri Lanka. Takes 4–8 weeks. For applicants who have lived outside Sri Lanka for extended periods, obtaining this certificate can require coordination with Sri Lankan missions abroad.
Professional Licensing in Canada
Sri Lankan engineers (EC/IESL members), nurses (SLNC), and accountants (CASL/ICASL) must apply separately to Canadian provincial licensing bodies. VMC helps clients understand whether to pursue licensing before or after PR.
